Hair Salon Flyers Template And The Salon Business – it’s not ALL about making money
I absolutely LOVE doing deals and creating value. Value = making money. After all, there’s zero point to being in business and making no profit. And I’ll happily admit that financially, this business has been very lucrative.
I often wake early, and lie there for a few minutes, thinking about business and all the wonderful benefits it’s brought me. A substantial income, for sure. Equity in an increasingly-valuable business asset, no doubt. And within the constraints of the law, almost complete freedom to do as I please, when I please. And – as far as I can ascertain – a reputation for decent human values, honesty in business, and being a straight-shooter.
Sure, there’s been grief along the way. Snot-‘n-tears here and there. Frustration, yes. (I’ve never been known for unlimited patience.) By and large though, getting into business after 25 years of mostly working for other people has been the best decision I’ve ever made. Even if I was well past 40 when I finally made it.
But I often lie there in the small hours, convinced that the very BIGGEST benefit I enjoy as a result of success is… the frequent, unsolicited, heartfelt ‘THANKS’ from salon & spa business owners all over the world.
They come from surprising places. We have salon & spa members of the Inner Circle program in all sorts of places…. the backblocks of the USA, outback Australia, little towns in Ireland, windswept southern New Zealand, and BIG cities like Tokyo, Sydney, London and New York.
But…Samoa? From this tiny speck in the Pacific Ocean, a delightful email this week from Inner Circle member Hellen Lavale, owner of Nezian Hair Design:

Samoan salon owner Hellen Levale reveals how ‘my’ style of marketing works just the same on a tiny Pacific Island as it does in London, Sydney or New York.
“Hi Greg,
Hellen here in Samoa.
Well, I have started on the Toolkit (Essential Salon Owner’s Marketing Toolkit®) and it is exciting…I had to go away during the first week of Xmas to Sydney and had 2 new staff members start who had been away in other countries on training. The salon HAD TO MAKE MONEY while I was away and it did.. So I took massive action and ran a TV ad, a radio ad and sent flyers to 50 random selected PO BOX numbers (in Samoa there are no physical letter boxes…this little exercise cost 2463. tala ( approx $AUD1200).
We had awesome response with staff working 10-12 hours per day, and sold 50 packages at 99.00 tala for services worth 250.00. The best part of this was it created confidence on my part that my salon could generate cash while I was away. I have stopped them but the whole exercise has given the salon name a great exposure. Clients have been given the Happy Form (from the kit) also and our membership form which is free right now…..Staff members have been given excellent with every tick …..great for me knowing clients are happy…..
This week I have had a floor manager start our email listing so that we can send out our newsletter and our monthly offers and our birthday gift vouchers. We also start the New Clients re booking letter system as well this week.
We did a $16,400 month in December 2008 and December 2009 was almost $20,000!”
From time to time, doubters question me on whether ‘my kind of salon marketing’ would ‘work in my town/city/country’…. well, I can’t tell you. But it works in…Samoa!

Hair Salon Website Template Free: NZ Salon Superstar of the Week – Bedelia Shepherd of Nelson Beauty Therapy DOUBLES her salon’s turnover just one month after joining the Inner Circle Program!
“Thank you for your support leading up to Christmas, we have been blown away with our results. We have more than doubled our last Dec turnover and the vouchers sales bought in just under $18000.”
It’s amazing the amount of times I hear salons owners say “my accountant has advised me not to join the Inner Circle program because my business can’t afford it”. I find it so utterly bemusing that any person would tell you to not invest in the ONE THING that is going to make you money….marketing!

Bedelia Shepherd of Nelson Beauty Therapy
And that is exactly what happened to Bedelia Shepherd of Nelson Beauty Therapy in Nelson 18 months ago when she was looking to join the Inner Circle program. As it happened, she only joined in December 2009 and has already doubled her monthly turnover since then. If only she hadn’t listened to that business adviser’s bad advice 18 months ago, she would be in a completely different place now with her business. Here is what Bedelia has to say…..
WOW … I’m so excited with the results we are achieving. Since I joined the Inner Circle program a month ago, we have doubled our turnover in that short period of time. The girls in the salon are right behind everything we are doing with our marketing and in- salon promotions. Our customers are excited and can feel the positive energy.
There is a lesson in this for me I’d love to share with you! 18 months ago I spoke to Greg and wanted to join WSM but allowed myself to be talked out of it by very well meaning business advisers! Their reasons being ‘my business couldn’t afford it’….!!I Needless to say I don’t use their services anymore!
My advice if I can be so bold is ……..your business can’t afford not to belong to WSM.
I’m very thankful and extremely grateful to both Greg and Chris for their support, and this is only such early days, but the simple saying of “surround yourself with positive people with successful business practices and your half way there” is certainly true in my case.
In the first week of January we have done the entire retail sales of last January and exactly half of the beauty sales for the whole month! We haven’t even implemented all the marketing we set out to do just yet! Now things have settled down a bit I can breathe and spend time on planning.
Really looking forward to this exciting year and seeing what I can achieve.”

Inner Circle member and salon owner Anni Mavety of Wellness Treatment Centre in Banora, NSW – sales increased 150% since getting her Toolkit
Hair Salon Gift Certificate Template Superstar of the Week – how Inner Circle member Anni Mavety turned herself from struggling technician to proud salon business owner
“We have had an amazing 4 or 5 months since we joined. Haven’t finished off my figures yet, but my guess is that we have had an increase in business of at least 100% probably quite a bit higher.”
For every doubter, for every salon business owner who tells me ‘oh, your material didn’t work for me because “my business is different” ‘, there’s a dozen like Anni Mavety.
Anni only joined the Inner Circle program and got her marketing Toolkit in May 2009. As she admits in an email this week, ‘it took a while to get myself going’, but once she did, the results were almost instantaneous, and spectacular.
“I have used a lot of the info in the Toolkit, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t but it provided a mountain of resources which enabled me to change the way I think and the way I do business.
Considering we have a crappy location with no walk by and the state of the economy, I’m very happy with our results to date. I anticipate that this year we can double our figures again.
Anni’s story is a classic case of necessity being the mother of motivation. Supporting a husband suddenly disabled, she had to get the salon business profitable, and fast. She was desperate, and desperate times call for desperate measures. The ‘cost’ of Inner Circle membership initially frightened her, but as she explained when I interviewed her over the phone, that initial investment came back to her in spades.

Hair Salon Price List Template Superstar of the Week – Inner Circle member Rebecca Skehan’s BRILLIANT Christmas
“…up nearly double from Christmas ’08 to this Christmas!”
Rebecca Skehan joined the Inner Circle salon marketing & mentoring program – and got her marketing Toolkit – weeks before she even opened the doors to her new salon Gaia Hair back in 2007. She is a classic case of turning Massive Action into money in the cash register. Her salon business has never looked back.
“For the first time ever I got myself seriously organized for Christmas Marketing early this year! Yay! (Normally due to busy home life it is done at last minute, but now I have Kym as my personal assistant in the office I am more organised!)
The new year has brought with it some fresh challenges (mainly staff!), so I’m head down bum up so to speak, managing these issues now…”
That said, I looked strategically at what we needed for this time of year – one being our client average over $100, secondly our overall figures up over $45k, thirdly re-bookings to carry us through the ‘quieter’ Jan and Feb months. I then did marketing to target these three areas…
Re-booking has gone up massively too. It has been sitting on about 80%, and one week during the Christmas period it was up at a ridiculous 94%!! Brilliant figures!!
“We put a number of campaigns in place, and they have been seriously successful. Our figures for December this year are nearly double what we did in ’08!
We have an extra staff member and apprentice, but even (taking that into account) it’s a huge improvement.
Well done Rebecca. For other IC members, it should serve as inspiration and motivation.

Susan Anderson’s gift voucher campaign paid off in a big way…
This Beauty Salon Business Plan Template Has Customers Queuing Up….
Susan Anderson of Lillian Mack Skin Clinic in Moranbah, Queensland has been pinching herself over how her salon business has been transformed.
Logging into the Members Only ‘sealed section’, Susan downloaded a special Gift Voucher offer many of our Inner Circle members had been running successfully in the lead-up to Christmas, and advertised it in the local newspaper last week.
She was almost knocked over in the rush…
“I had queues outside my door for the first two hours and then the rest of the day was solidly constant, I did not move from my front counter all day, even had one of the local coffee shop ladies bringing me coffee for free!! …and congratulating me on such a fantastic idea, we were the talk of the town!!
They have been on sale for 4 days and we’ve sold $24,980 worth of Gift Vouchers, and seen lots of new faces come into the salon so will have gained quite a few new clients…I am over the moon.”
